Defending world cup champions will be looking to make it back to back world cup titles. But standing in their way is a resurgent England and a hurting world heavy weight in Australia. And looking to re-establish themselves as world powers are France and Wales. Can they knock over one of the big three? What about the pacific powers of Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, PNG and the Cook Islands....all bristling with NRL and ESL stars.
On debut at their first ever world cups will be the USA and Italy. Can they make an impact on the world cup? And what of Scotland and Ireland? They to have their stars.

I don't think the others should even bother turning up ...

Thats the way SJ. Promote the international game.

In other news i can't wait to see some of these developing nations play. And lets not forget that these arn't the only nations now playing league seriously. Canada, Jamaica, South Africa and Lebanon and all lay claim to being rugby league nations now.

I always hope the others win @nu. But - you know my philosophy - whichever team has the most Saints players - I follow ... :)

I actually think England have there best shot at a world cup since the early 90's. Sure they no longer have the game breakers in there backline like Johnathan Davis (yes i know he's from Wales but i was thinking more then they were playing as GB), Garry Schofield, Shaun Edwards, Joe Lydon, Andy Gregory and the likes but what they do have is a forward pack as tough as any i have seen in 39 years and that forward pack is as skillful as anything the Kiwis or Aussies or anyone else can offer. The pommy backs are no mugs either with the likes of Ryan Hall, Watkins, Sinfield.

Just looking at the odds.

Australia 2-5
NZ 4-1
England 15-2
200-1 bar.

For PNG/France, for example, PNG 2-5, France 5-9. In other words, PNG are favourites.

I see Henry Perenara will be reffing England/Australia. All together now, "One, two, three..." :)
