Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced it has imposed sanctions on Nathaniel Atkinson, Riley McGree, Lachlan Wales and Brandon Wilson for breaches of clauses 2.1 and 6.1 of the FFA National Code of Conduct (the Code of Conduct).

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has sanctioned a Tasmanian registered player for betting on a number of football matches, in breach of the FFA National Code of Conduct.

The breaches included betting on matches involving his own team, as well as matches in other leagues including the National Premier League Tasmania and Victoria.

FFA has issued a sanction of a $5,000 fine payable now and an immediate two (2) match suspension. The sanction also includes a further suspended $5,000 fine and two (2) match suspension, to be triggered immediately in the event of another breach of the Code of Conduct.

Australia’s U-23 men’s national football team claimed the ‘Dazu Cup’ in China overnight, with Ramy Najjarine’s penalty against Lithuania U-23 helping the green and gold to a 1-0 win in their third and final match of the friendly invitational tournament.

Melbourne City’s Najjarine, who claimed the player of the tournament, scored in the 58th minute of the fixture to ensure that Australia maintained its perfect record in the competition.
