Well - after the Test both our boys looked OK. BMozz made an uncharacteristic error , but played strong.

Flo - for the NZers - was his usual strong self.

    Well done to both.

St George Illawarra Dragons National Youth Competition captain Craig Garvey says the Under 20s State of Origin match will be a big step-up from the week-to-week competition.

The La Perouse junior has been selected to start from the NSW Blues interchange bench for Game One, achieving one of his goals for the 2013 season.

The 19-year-old believes the week in camp is a great opportunity to learn from a different group of players and coaches.

Charly Runciman is also worth a look - a top emerging centre.

Charly got two tries in the NSW U20s SOO 36 - 12 win over Qld.

Daniel Vidot got a try for Samoa in their loss to Tonga 36 - 4. Leeson Ah Mau also played for Samoa.

St George Illawarra Dragons prop Leeson Ah Mau admits it was a big occasion for him to represent Toa Samoa.

The Otahuhu junior, alongside teammate Daniel Vidot, both featured for Samoa in the 36-4 loss to Mate Ma’a Tonga at Centrebet Stadium, Penrith on Saturday.

Despite the result, Ah Mau is thankful for the opportunity to train alongside his fellow countrymen and knows the team will improve in time for the World Cup in October.

With Gallen out will Trent Merrin be the NSW Lock. Not a bad choice IMO.

We will have BMozz in and maybe Benny C.

So 3 of the 17 is not bad. Prior might be a roughie ?

On recent team performances the Dragons would be lucky to get more than Merrin or Morris in selected and if the injury to Morris is anything but very minor it would be hard for selectors to finally not pick Merritt from the bunnies

looks like the push for Merritt might have some merit with Morris missing:troll:. Heavily marked as he is now Merrin will have to turn in some brilliant efforts to gain selection.

Yes - missing Morris might mean Merrit on merit alone. Merrin or Merritt might mean minor differences.

St George Illawarra Dragons captain Ben Creagh has backed teammate Trent Merrin to shine for the NSW Blues in the first State of Origin clash. at ANZ Stadium, Olympic Park tonight. Merrin is poised to make his fifth appearance for the Blues in three seasons when he lines up against the Queensland Maroons and Creagh is amongst those eager to watch his teammate in action. The Shellharbour junior was dropped from the final State of Origin fixture last season but Creagh admits the player has grown and matured since then.

“I think this season has been his best season of footy so far,” said Creagh.

Merrin did well but he even caught his own team mates offguard with his first offload in a tackle. Everyone else was playing that set of 6 as one out runs.

NSW fullback Josh Dugan has revealed his pride at being selected for NSW after just five matches with St George Illawarra and said a Blues victory in Brisbane next Wednesday night would be the highlight of his career so far.

Dugan, who admitted Origin was so far off the radar for him after his sacking by Canberra at the start of the season that he hadn't even considered it, paid tribute to his family and friends for standing by him when his career was at its lowest point.

The 23-year-old also said the realisation he may have to continue a labouring job permanently if he couldn't find another club, made him aware of how much the game meant to him.

I have said we have some fine young players in the lower grade. Its just a fact of life we will only be able to keep a couple to move up to the NRL side. The Dragons seem to have become a breeding ground for other clubs while we just go for Raiders offcasts.
