All these "loadings", penalty points, levels etc.

I hate seeing someone miss a big game because they have carryover points.

you earn them you deserve them. if you do not have "carry over" points that gives the okay to continue with your play that incurred them in the first place

Fines mean bugger all because they do not reflect the salaries they are on.
like Our ABC paying a journos court costs for something she did in her own time and taken to court privately. a cynic would be entitled to think those fines are paid by others.
points however do carry the risk of loss of game time and a chance for a replacement to shine and keep the spot.
tuat in itself is a good enough reason to lift ones game.

Yes - but I'm talking about when they get a week or two - but still have 50 points etc outstanding.

Just give them the 2 weeks plus $2000 etc.

no.
carry over points are an aid to ensure they do not have a relapse when they again take the field.
Like demerit points on your car licence they should have a sunset clause to them and thats something players can earn
