The Czech Rugby League Association was established in late 2005 with Official Observer status granted by the RLEF in 2006. An overhaul of the Association in December 2010 saw the introduction of a new constitution and a general assembly formed by the founding Board members and representatives of the then six clubs. Full Members of the CZRLA are defined as clubs with voting rights at the general assembly; Associate Members are defined as clubs without voting rights. The seven-strong Executive Board serves a one-year term and is elected at the January AGM.
Strategically, the CZRLA’s medium term objective is to obtain membership of the Czech Sports Association and Full Membership of the RLEF.

Plans are in place to increase the amount of domestic, representative and international rugby league played in and by the United Arab Emirates in 2015. A new team, renewed State of Origin and preparations for the MEA Cup are scheduled according to UAERL President, Sol Mokdad.“The UAERL Board is set up for a fruitful 2015 which will see unprecedented rugby league activity in the Emirates and Gulf region” he said. “With the success of the Rugby League World Cup, the Four Nations, and the international appeal of the NRL and Super League, rugby league is growing internationally and we are proud to be part of it. Our aim for next year is to become an Affiliate Member of the Rugby League European Federation.”The UAERL Rugby League Cup kicks off on 17 April, 2015, with defending champions Abu Dhabi Harlequins taking on Xodus Wasps, Al Ain Amblers and the newly introduced Dubai Sharks over four weekends of competition. On its completion, the annual Mike Ballard ‘Emirate of Origin’ returns for the third consecutive year, with the best from Dubai taking on the finest in Abu Dhabi. Game One will be held in Abu Dhabi on 15 May, 2015.The UAE Falcons, the national side, will be taking on officially-ranked nations both home and away with fixtures planned against Lebanon and Serbia, together with representative games versus Pakistan and Thailand XIII.The Falcons have been strengthened by the appointment of George Yiasemides as head coach, who has put together a highly qualified team including a strength and conditioning and performance coach. The Junior Falcons, coached by rugby league great Apollo Perelini, will be competing in the U18s MEA Cup which is earmarked to take place in Beirut in mid-February.

The newly-formed Ethiopia rugby league has taken further positive steps following the completion of a visit by RLEF Middle East Africa Regional Director Remond Safi. He was based in the sport’s new stronghold, the city of Mekelle in the State of Tigray, where an excited crowd watched the first match officially played.SOS School of Mekelle narrowly defeated Nicolas Robinson School in front of Tigray Sports Bureau officials, other schools’ sports teachers - including the Nicholas Robinson School Principal - and Rainbows 4 Children representatives. More importantly than the result, the sporting but fiercely competitive match was controlled by qualified Ethiopian match officials and the sides were prepared by local coaches, graduates of the RLEF Level 1 Coaching Course taught by Safi. “It was overwhelming to see the enthusiasm applied by the Mekelle sports teachers in learning rugby league”, Safi said. “With the direction of Ahmed Abubeker and his colleagues, along with the guidance of the Region Tigray sports bureau, I have no doubt that we will see the sport develop into neighbouring states in the country.”The rugby league coaching course was hosted at Nicolas Robinson School by Abubeker Ahmed, president of the Tigray association. “We are very grateful for the help of the Tigray state government, who have pioneered support for this important sport and for the unceasing support of Nicolas Robinson School”, Ahmed added. The coaching course had sixteen participants from Tigray schools, thirteen male and three female, all of whom graduated with the top two places in the written examination being women. The same sixteen coaches then took the RLEF Match Officials course, again all passing.

Partizan juniors completed an unbeaten season after defeating Dorćol U18s, 24-22, in the Grand Final to become the new champions. The youngsters but had to wait the final whistle to celebrate the success, Dorćol missing a conversion late on that would have taken the game into extra time.Partizan centre Branko Čarapić opened the scoring with two tries inside eight minutes and Denis Bajrami extended the lead to give the Black-and-Whites a perfect start. Dorćol juniors kept their hopes alive through a Miloš Aleksić try two minutes before the break but Pavle Vojinović instantly replied to seemingly put Partizan in control.But Dorćol started the second period in fine form with an Aleksa Radić double from consecutive sets and were close to another try but lost the ball. Partizan took advantage through Bajrami’s second try and Vladimir Milutinović added his second goal but from there on in it was all Dorćol. Second rower Radić touched down between the posts for his hat trick, Stefan Vukanović converting and, with six minutes remaining, winger Rade Spajić crossed in the corner to cut the deficit to only two points but Vukanović missed the kick from the touchline. Serbian Rugby League Federation president Predrag Pantić awarded the impressive trophy to the new champions’ captain Kosta Stojković and praised the both teams, the intensity of the game and the quality of the competition.“I am happy to see these two teams battle for the trophy until the very last gasp” he said. “The final was the finest end to a competition which had started back in May and proved that we shouldn’t worry about the next generation of players coming through. I congratulate not only the new champions Partizan but all the teams involved and I hope we will spread the base even wider in 2015.“Partizan boss Admir Hadžić added: “We knew that if we failed to win the final, nobody would remember our previous record. I hope we will continue this way in new season as many of these boys will stay at this age group”.Since the introduction of Serbian U18s Championships, no team has defended the title. This year’s final was the first without Soko Vranje, who lost all three previous appearances in the title decider.

You perhaps didn't get it so much in Australia, but believe me, when rugby union went (officially) professional, the TV and media here were full of talking heads predicting the swift demise of rugby league, which they thought would rapidly be subsumed into union. Well, for all we criticise our governing bodies, that didn't happen, and the game is broadly speaking in good health.

Funnily - as a local game - its failing badly here. The local comps are battling soccer. We have the Super 15 or whatever - where we have 4 (?) main sides but RU has really lost ground in the local community.
In saying that, we all love watching Tests etc.
Gold Coast Titans duo David Mead and Nene Macdonald along with Canberra Raiders hooker Kurt Baptiste have been named in the Papua New Guinea team to meet Fiji in the Pacific Test at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta next Saturday night.
Mead, who has not played for the Kumuls since the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, returns to the team having played for Country Origin in the Representative Round the past two seasons and told NRL.com his heart always remained with PNG.
"My heart is always there with PNG, being from there and living for 12 years there," said Mead, who was unsure of how his representative eligibility would be affected in future had he been picked for Country.
"I know how much people love their rugby league up there so if that wasn't to affect anything moving forward then I'd like to go with them."
Macdonald was a standout for PNG in their 22-10 loss to Fiji last year on the Gold Coast while Baptiste is one of five debutants to have been named by coach Michael Marum.
Fellow Raider Kato Ottio has also been selected along with Wests Tigers forward Rod Griffin and 10 members of the PNG Hunters team that plays in Queensland's Intrust Super Cup.

Interesting that both Macdonald and Sims have been chosen. Would have thought with QLD's depth this year, they would have been excluded.
