The Queensland Rugby League offers its condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Wynnum Manly Seagulls captain Mitchell Cronin, who passed away yesterday.

Mitch had an impressive rugby league career, and was born in Brisbane before playing for Souths-Logan and then joining the Seagulls in 2015.

Mitch was also a member of the Canberra Raiders’ and Brisbane Broncos’ NRL squads, as well as representing the Queensland Residents team.

Mitch captained the Seagulls in their Intrust Super Cup Grand Final appearance in 2019 and was again set to lead the club before the advent of the COVID-19 hiatus.

One of the more experienced match officials in the Queensland Rugby League High Performance Unit, Nick Pelgrave, has been rewarded for his consistent performances throughout the season and will this Sunday take charge of the Intrust Super Cup grand final.

Pelgrave, who made his Intrust Super Cup debut in Round 3, 2015, has worked hard throughout the season and will be in the middle for his second decider, after he shared the duties with Jarrod Cole in 2017.
