I am curious S J - did you start this forum? If so, you should've gone to USA Fox news for sponsorship. You wouldn't worry about funds at all mate. Honestly.

And not only that, Bazza:

1. The style is straight out of the Trump playbook: when criticised, just flat-out ignore it and don't respond. Instead, say, "Ah, but what about what the wicked Dems did.."

2. Demand a source for my allegations (which I provided), but no source for his own claims about the Dems.

3. Again, did he read the piece, which provides references, as all decent US journalism does. Or just the first sentence? Again, has he not seen Trump make these idiotic comments on TV?

4. Even if that stuff about Pelosi and virus relief (what virus relief programme, exactly?) is correct, which I doubt,

a) I am not obliged to defend Pelosi or any other Dem. i don't 'support' them.
b) Just answer the question about Trump, will you?

A few great Journalists in Oz - they are amazed by the stuff he says. Recently now my work (Landscaping) there is a guy on sunrise and he is journalist/fasts etc. He said one time recently - He is a smart politician. You don't need actual data, though he did say - trump did help employment rate. Though he did say, decrease of wage and also, the higher end of town they love that.
STG and S J they don't believe that. The problem in Australia is MP (NLP) Ministers who look after the social/welfare - and also that bald-headed dropkick who looked after Centrelink. To get a CRN - you have to ring if you never had it beforehand. The phones are busy all the time and supposedly in 2 days time - you can do it online. BUT - it's jammed - no service. That's Federal Government F___ Up. People need to eat...Scomo! F--------------!!!!@!

His latest is, "he hopes it'll all be over by Easter".

I wonder what source of info he has, when no other world leader is masking such a claim?

Apart from Trump-lite idiot Bolsonaro in Brazil.

Did you read the piece? Much of it quotes his own words. Do you deny he said them? Have you not seen him say them on TV, cos I have?

Sure the NYT hates Trump. But we are talking about facts here. Fox News hates Bernie Sanders, so should I ignore everything they say about him?
The problem with Fake media is they TWIST words and carefully edit video to suit their own needs.
The ABC and CNN are masters of misrepresentation.
IN Australia OUR ABC is busy promoting panic and scaremongering.
In the USA Trump is on a hiding to nothing with Fake media either acusing him of Jumping the Gun or Too Little too late no matter what he does.

The Operative word is HOPE and thats what leaders are meant to do...offer help, and HOPE not scaremongering .
A little reality would also help but public doesnt really want to hear that and media would not have a story to gain ratings if they did that.
At least Trump can close his borders but Europe with their "open" borders have a real problem.
You can bet the EU in Brussells wont be happy but countries with any sense are now re activating their old borders. Too late of course but better late than never

The wealthiest country in the world, I'm not sure if 2 Trillion will help if it doesn't happen straight away. My broker for my mortgage helped through my bank. Though I may get a renter in...?? Questionmark until after Easter.

Well you guys seem convinced there is nothing to worry about. I'll leave you to it.

And of course there geographical differences between the US, with only two land borders, and European countries is massive, whatever border arrangements are made. Most Western European countries are in lockdown now, so I assume border controls are in place.

You guys live on a island. how do you think borders should be organised, say between France and Belgium, where you are driving along a motorway, and then you see a sign, and you're in Belgium now? Obviously it takes some Aussies to point out to Europeans that they've been doing it wrong all this time!

If you think there should be a 'hard border' with barbed wire and customs posts and queues, ask yourself this: supposing there were such border controls on every road between NSW and Queensland. How do you think that would work? How long before there were food shortages in the shops?

OK, I'm going to try to nail you down to specifics now. What exactly has ABC said that promotes 'panic and scaremongering'?

Have they accurately reported Government public advice on behaviour?

Can you point out to me the bits that are scare-mongering?

All world governments are 'on a hiding to nothing' insofar as they will always be criticised for doing too little,or not enough, or whatever. Trump is not a special case. But, like any leader, he will be judged by his actions. I'm not much interested in which media are pro- or anti-Trump; I would judge his words and actions (and Boris Johnson's) against the best scientific advice. Because they are the people we should be listening to. But perhaps you think Trump knows better than the scientists?

well lets see . for a start they are fanning the government doesn't know what it is doing panic especially over schools.

They know full well that some people can home school or keep their kids home but others cant.
Instead they claim falsehoods.
They knew Victoria only had a few days of its school term left so Andrews closing schools was praised to the hilt while NSW who had weeks left was criticised
The only right wing people they have on Q&A are for cannon fodder purposes to shout over or abuse from their selected crowds.

An ABC reporter had SCOMO for an interview...she repeatedly cut him off and talked over him.
There was NO respect for the office he held and finally even he pulled her up on it and said if you are going to ask a question have the decency to let me answer it.
I am surprised there were no claims alleging the PM is Arrogant for putting her in her place.
It receives over a $$$Billion of taxpayers money and is anything but fair or unbiased in its stories.
As a public broadcaster it needs its budget slashed severely...socialists working there if they are prouod of being so should happily spread the propaganda for bugger all income.
The ABC is rabid in its support of Global warming campaigns, anti mining, anti coal seam and PRO everything GREEN with no impartial reports
The idiot on media watch took A Bolt (yes sometimes I watch him) on over his corona virus stance to DRUM up scares but then the other day changed his tune but no mea culpa.
The Muslim apologist Magoo?.
the ABC instead of calling her to account gave her a JOB.,
They had Julias pet scientist on ad nauseum to flog false climate change scares...that never happened.
They swallowed and preached Al Goreisms to the cows come home now they are on the Thunberg case.
They don't even entertain in their bushfire reporting facts or truths as a responsible public broadcaster should do.
They ignore bushfires are made more intense by a NATURAL drought (that we have regularly in this country) and that green tape in clearing fuel loads make them more intense. Instead they push climate scare panic.

They carped on about SCOMO being on a well earnt holiday having made sure the relevant Minister was up to date and the relieving PM was ready to provide ANY assistance the STATES (whose responsibility it was to fight fires and prevent them ) required.greens 15.jpeggreens 6.jpg

I could go on but in your case if you don't watch the ABC with an open mind its a waste of time so let me use your tip DYOR.

Trump knows things won't be back to normal next month, but there are some rural areas in the U.S. that aren't hit hard by this Corona Virus that can open up non-essential businesses - they should wear masks though. He is also giving a positive outlook so the share prices rise, and it is working.

I saw on Ch7 last night that the masks don't stop people from catching the virus but rather they help prevent the spread. shrug.gif

Yes the USA is going to get a lot worse nbefore it gets better and given the size of their population and its concentration in big cities they will suffer the worst.
Gving hope and support is however better than doing nothing or scaremongering.
The Iranians are obviously under reporting their level of the contagions effects.
It could just as easily blow over in a month or hang around for a couple of years.

We should have closed out borders to everyone but its a moot point now.
We have those who got themselves stuck in foreign places moaning our government isn't sending planes for them as well.
A couple who took the wifes 40th birthday in Maldives are stuck there and good luck.
You feel sorry fo rthe family when you dig a little deeper. The daughter who ex huby took time off from his Pharmacy job has to go back to work but daughter is diabetic blind and suffers numerous health issues. She would be a prime candidate for NDIS help not mom on her holiday.

Others are stuck in places like Peru and bitching also because government has managed to arrange a flight but tickets are supposedly $5K and they want them for free.

Clive Palmer New Enterprise?

The two-page ad in the Australian states the drug, hydroxychloroquine, when combined with another medication could “wipe out the virus in test tubes” and Australia’s drugs regulator, the Therapeutic Goods Administration [TGA], is now investigating whether the ad breaches drugs advertising rules.
