Bazza, Australians holiday in Bali and Thailand now because it's too expensive here due to high wage rates, the problem isn't that wages are too low the problem is that housing is too expensive, the tax free threshold could also be lifted higher maybe to $30k.

When they get tips they have to give it to the business anyway - depends on the business. Anyway, when it comes to economics, I am somewhere between Labor and the Liberals, so I'm not sure why you are telling me to get my facts correct. Lol.
Service industries in the USA is different to Australia Rad.
We get a wage and sometimes a tip for good service or when a person is trying to impress their dinner date.

The US has a low hourly rate and they rely on individual tips to boost their salary to a liveable wage. The business doesn't get it.
If you follow media storys you will often see where some people are stunned by a HUGE tip onto their 'Bill" while others might just get a nasty comment about how long it took or poor service. That's why they serve with a smile over there and say things like "your welcome" or "your very welcome".
Of course if its an entertainment service they might "pool" the tips and split it up at the end of the day but its al part of their actual pay income..

Full time employees in Australia get an hourly rate (unless they are contracted employees) plus there are additional add ons like
overtime
shift penalty rate loadings
public holiday loadings
and a lot of other opportunity for increased take home pay. If Shorten lifts the "basic" pay all those additional add ons rise as well as they are all a percentage of your base pay.

If Shorten wants to push on with his economic plans there wont be any money or successful business to pay for his "forced" planned pay rises.

Yeah I lived in the U.S. for 6 months. Some bosses over there are pricks and don't let them keep the tips.

Does Fraser Anning have a brain or a heart?
Probably not much of either BUT if politicians weren't so busy being horrified or disgusted at what he said there is a grain of truth in his comment they just cant agree with any of it for political reasons..

It was only a matter of time before some imbecile with a few roos loose in the top paddock actually took their brand of terror back to muslims .

Usually its muslims gathering in some violent demonstration over some perceived slight to their prophet while their imams preach hate and describe women in western clothes as pieces of meat or call for jihad against those who took them in giving them a safe place to live.

Sad to say it but the non assimilation and expecting us to change to suit their way of life brings out the worst in some extremists and the far right has its share of nutters as well.
Don't be too quick to forget those that wanted to run an attack at Holsworthy army base, The Sydney coffee shop incident and the death outside police HQ Parramatta.
All those and other attacks feed potential lone wolf attacks from disaffected far rights and finally one of them has stupidly acted on it.

Christchurch was a waste of life and NZ will probably tighten their gun laws as a result and don't feel you have to agree with me but that is my opinion on a terrible incident.

My brother-in-law works in the same building as Curtis Cheng worked in, he was due to finish work at the same time but voluntarily worked back, it easily could have been him that was gunned down instead.
