Released for "personal issues" so if he made a miraculous recovery and signed with another club in a hurry it would seem a bit sus.
He has become a bit of a journeyman player despite his skill at the game and probably feels he needs to get out and have a life as playing footy is all he has done from a young age

Another good example of a player Clubs had layed out top money for - but don't seem to produce.

A boom player at an early age but obviously League wasn't and isn't the be all of his life. You just have to hope he saved a lot of the cash that was thrown his way and puts it to good use.

Nathan Cleary says the decision by Penrith boss Phil Gould to sack his father actually made it easier to pledge his long-term future to the club.

The young playmaker inked a new three-year deal with the Panthers on Tuesday, ending speculation he may walk out in protest at the axing of his dad Ivan as head coach.

Well, if he's half as successful as his farther, it will be an exciting career to follow.

From RLW:
  • PANTHERS RE-SIGN YOUNG STAR

Written by JOSH CHAHAL, November 10, 2015

THE Panthers have announced that young playmaker Nathan Cleary has signed a new three-year deal with the club.

The 17-year-old, who was part of the Panthers premiership-winning NYC squad in 2015, will remain at the foot of the mountains until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Cleary is excited to continue his progression at Penrith and is looking forward to the opportunities that lay ahead.

“I’m hoping to play consistently in the under-20s this year but it would also be good to get a few games up in NSW Cup,” he said.

Cleary’s decision to re-sign despite the departure of his father Ivan was fueled by his desire to create his own name.

“To be honest it’s made it easier for me to carve my own path and follow the direction I want to go without having people speculate about the influence of my Dad,” he said.

“It’s an awesome feeling to get the deal done so I can focus on preparing myself for the upcoming season.”

The young halfback has resumed training with the Panthers NYC squad as they begin planning for the new season.

Cleary’s re-signing follows this morning’s announcement that winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak had extended his contact through until the end of 2017.

NEW Zealand international Peta Hiku has signed a three-year deal with Penrith.
Hiku was also being pursued by Parramatta and St George Illawarra, but opted to head to the foot of the mountains.
The 23-year-old will be a wonderful addition to the Panthers’ backline that also features Matt Moylan and fellow Kiwis Dean Whare and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak.

I still can't believe Manly just let him go.
Me neither. Hiku is a multi-role player and always does a top job of covering for the often injured full back Brett Stewart.
Expect more inexplicable decisions as first time head coach, Trent Barrett, makes initial dumb-ass recruiting errors.

Can only think Hiku really wanted to jump ship and that Matt Moylan might concentrate on the halves.

Interesting decision, when they have a similar player in James Fisher-Harris waiting in the wings.

The Panthers have confirmed the signing of Chris Grevsmuhl, effective immediately.

Then Tamou.

Must be nice to have so much Cap free.

Segeyaro released to Leeds. Probably will find his way back to the NRL next season. Back up to Ennis at Cronulla?
