The NRL Integrity Unit is expected to meet with Parramatta on Tuesday after photos of Shaun Lane holding a plastic bag with a white substance emerged on Monday.

The Integrity Unit have launched an investigation after both the NRL and Parramatta Eels were made aware of the images of Lane by The Daily Telegraph on Monday.

Parramatta Eels backrower Shaun Lane is expected to be hit with a fine for bringing the game into disrepute following an NRL investigation into images that surfaced on Monday night.

The NRL launched an investigation earlier in the week after being made aware of an image of Lane holding a plastic bag with a white substance during what is believed to be the Sea Eagles’ Mad Monday celebrations last year.

However NRL.com understands Lane denied being in possession or consuming an illegal substance.

It’s believed Lane has a clean record throughout his career despite numerous NRL-sanctioned random recreational drug testing.

Lane, who sent the image in a private message, didn’t give consent for the photo to be disseminated - which could open the door for potential legal options.

Eels forward Shaun Lane has apologised for the "joke" that led to him being splashed across the front page of newspapers holding bags of white powder during Manly's Mad Monday celebrations.

Lane was fined $17,500 for bringing the game into disrepute following an NRL Integrity Unit investigation, and must also deliver a PowerPoint presentation to his teammates and Parramatta under 20s players on the incident.

He denied taking any illicit substance, with Lane's co-operation with the NRL's investigation and his remorse contributing to him copping a financial penalty instead of a suspension.

Eels lock Nathan Brown is facing a three-week ban after being slapped with a shoulder charge offence by the NRL Match Review Committee.

Brown's hit on Bulldogs fullback Dallin Watene-Zelezniak in the 48th-minute of Thursday night's match at Bankwest Stadium resulted in him being placed on report and sent to the sin bin.

If Brown enters an early guilty plea to the grade two charge he will miss two matches and be free to return for week one of the finals.
