COWBOYS’ BID TO LAND LEILUA EARLY
Speculation around the future of Wests Tigers second-rower Luciano Leilua was put to bed when it was announced on Thursday that he had inked a three-year deal with the Cowboys.
Leilua is scheduled to make the move to Townsillve after his Tigers contract ends at the end of 2022, however the Cowboys want him in time for next season, according to
The Daily Telegraph.
The
Telegraph reports, North Queensland offered up hooker Reece Robson in a potential swap deal, but the Tigers rejected the move.
As mentioned earlier, Robson has two more seasons to go on his contract, however he has also been shopped to the Eels for 2023 as a replacement for Reed Mahoney.
The Cowboys are comfortable at hooker with veteran hooker Jake Granville signed until the end of 2022 and an option in their favour for 2023, as well as Reuben Cotter — who recently re-signed until the end of 2025.
Cotter has, however, spent a lot of time at lock given Robson had cemented his spot in the No.9 jersey.
