Melbourne's premiership campaign has been rocked by news Christian Welch will miss the finals with a season-ending knee injury.

The Storm confirmed on Saturday morning that Welch would be sidelined for the rest of the season after scans revealed he had ruptured his ACL in Friday night's 40-4 shellacking of the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium.

It's a cruel setback for Welch, who sat out most of the 2017 season with a serious knee injury and missed Melbourne's grand final win over the Cowboys.

Melbourne Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster will be sent for scans on a shoulder injury after leaving the field late in the side's 36-6 win over Manly at Lottoland.

Storm coach Craig Bellamy conceded Munster was in doubt leading into the clash and then he re-aggravated a niggling complaint between his left shoulder and neck region.

The Storm are hopeful that interchange forward Brandon Smith will be fit for the Eels game. Smith is still battling a shoulder problem he picked up against the Raiders in week one and the Kiwi has also been battling a dose of the flu.
