So someone I know has gone to the Gold Coast for a holiday (not mentioning any names :D) and was care free when he went swimming yesterday morning... he says he didn't think he'd get badly burnt... but should you be care free when you go swimming???
NO!

You must remember to SLIP - SLOP - SLAP like the old TV commercial says! :D

Qld is the state with more skin cancer - I think in the World. Thank God I'm a darkie and I went outdoors, though 90% of the time I'm covered.

Your an outdoors man Bazza.
all the more reason to cover up or slip slop slap and a hat.
It catches up with you if you live to an older age....all the mispent fun in the sun youth or hard working life outdoors does real damage.
Skin cancer Dr's are more busy than ever and both the missus and I have given them our business.

Always wear long pants and long sleeved shirts when working. Need to buy some better sunnies though. Got my broad brim hat.

I see people who have been burnt like this - it makes me shiver. I'm fair haired and know what its like. BUT - you still see them on the beach - no tee shirts or tops - lying for hours. No hats etc.

Its crazy.

a few years ago "coconut "oil was all the rage and you would see the girls at the beach rubbing copious amounts on and all they were doing was basting their bodies in the sun. Trouble is the Australian "she'll be right jack" attitude comes home to roost later in life so perhaps its the revenge of the Wandjina on us descendants of those that invaded in 1788.

Some of the best beaches have natural shade (trees, cliffs, caves). Some of the beaches in Ikaria are like that. It is a Greek island where some of my ancestors are from.

My shoulders are peeling from my sunburn when I was away.
Use a moisturizer that contains aloe vera or soy to help soothe sunburned skin. Lotions that have something called aloe vera in them help make your skin feel better. Be careful not to use lotions or creams that have any of these things listed in the ingredients: petroleum, benzocaine, or lidocaine.

Hi Roger Rabbit RADICAL RABBIT - I changed the heading slightly to use it for my comment - and others. Hope that's OK.

Hiccups - the best remedy. I find holding your breath and swallowing 3 times a good way to stop them. Any others.

A basic one is having a couple of teaspoons of honey to help relieve symptoms for a bit of relief when having a sore throat.
