Good on Morts. :)

Things have been on the up since he left Parra and by now he knows he's only going to get used off the bench at the Roosters. Time for him to write the next chapter.

Skipper Greg Bird admits slumping Gold Coast face a huge task if they are to send Shellharbour junior Luke Bailey into retirement as a winner.
Pummelled 42-0 by the Warriors in Auckland on Sunday, the Titans returned home on Monday to news that 34-year-old ex-Test prop Bailey will call it quits following Sunday's season-ending final round home NRL match against Canterbury.
Bailey, one of the first players signed by the Titans ahead of their inaugural 2007 campaign, is retiring after 14 seasons in the top grade following his debut with St George Illawarra.
Bailey missed the drubbing by the Warriors with a neck injury but is expected to play against the Bulldogs for his 151st match for the Titans and 270th NRL appearance overall.
Bird said the club would find it hard to replace the leadership of Bailey, a veteran of four Tests for Australia and 15 State of Origin matches for NSW.
"He's going to be missed not just by me but by everyone at the club," Bird said.

STEVE Matai’s manager says it’s unlikely the hard-hitting Manly centre will be on the Gold Coast next year unless the Titans can stump up some serious cash.

The Titans have been in negotiations with Gavin Orr about luring the ex-Kiwi Test centre north to add some strike power to their backline.

Matai, 30, is off-contract at the end of the year and expected to leave Manly to chase a big-money deal which could be his final NRL contract.
The Sea Eagles blocked a release request from Matai last year to join the Warriors and the 202-game veteran said he was eyeing off the Gold Coast to be closer to family.
“It’d be a good option, my partner’s family’s from up there, from Byron Bay, so it’s only half an hour away,” Matai told Fairfax media outlets.

Gold Coast has moved to reassure Daly Cherry-Evans the club has a future on the tourist strip amid fears a series of damaging headlines could scupper their bid.

As a result, it is understood Gold Coast contacted Cherry-Evans to assure him the Titans were going nowhere.

MORE than 10 footballers are embroiled in the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission probe that on Friday netted Reds star Karmichael Hunt and Titans duo Beau Falloon and Jamie Dowling.

In Queensland sport’s darkest day, the CCC yesterday dropped a bombshell, levelling charges against tri-code athlete Hunt, Falloon and Dowling for allegedly supplying cocaine.

Officials at the Gold Coast Suns said last night they had not been contacted by authorities. But the Titans are facing a nervous wait, with top-liners other than Falloon and Dowling also on the CCC’s drugs radar.

The Titans crisis has deepened with Greg Bird facing the sack after became the latest player charged in the cocaine disaster which threatens to destroy the club.

Bird and fellow representative star Dave Taylor joined teammates Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling and Kalifa Faifai Loa to be stood down by the club and issued with notices to appear in court in relation to drug offences.

The Titans are already without a major sponsor and don't have a training venue, now they'll need to confront the reality of starting the season without three of their starting forwards with the five players to appear in court in March. Bird was charged with two counts of supplying cocaine, Taylor one count of possession and one count of supplying and Faifai Loa one count of supplying.

Could this spell the end of the team at the Gold Coast - a move to Brisbane - ie B2 ?

Can a whole club qualify for tool of the week if it wasn't such a serious issue?.
The whole game needs a reality check. You have player manager/agents wheeling and dealing to get their clients more money than they already need.
They play professional footy with no real thought to what they will do when playing career is over so they have money and to much spare time by the look of it so its no wonder they are getting into so much trouble. If they aren't training or playing they should be studying or working a real job or this sort of crap will just continue.

This latest nonsense may mean DCE stays put.
I dunno....

Ben Barba has been flapping his gums to DCE about moving to Sharktown and if DCE was put off by the Drugs scandal swirling around the Titans, then the Sharks are a cert. After all, it's not like there are any drug-cheating first graders on the Shire. Wait what?
