A £12m plan to redevelop rugby league side Wakefield Trinity's Belle Vue stadium has been announced in a move that will keep the club in the city.

Wakefield Council has put forward a proposal to build a 10,000-seat community stadium on the site by 2020.

The plans have been agreed in principle with the Super League side, which has played at Belle Vue since 1895.

This charade about Bell vue has been going on for years, though. It doesn't meet SL minimum standards, and talk about another stadium remains just that. Castleford are in a similar situation with an old dilapidated stadium.

Wakefield Trinity have signed prop Adam Tangata on loan from Halifax until the end of the season with front-rower Keegan Hirst moving the other way.

Tangata, 28, rejoined Championship side Fax after financial issues led to his early departure from Widnes, and has scored two tries in 11 games since.

Hirst, 31, has been at Trinity for three seasons after signing from Batley but is out of contract this winter.

Wakefield could not complete a comeback at Warrington meaning defeat by London could relegate them next weekend.
Trinity came close to securing a win that would have all but guaranteed safety but ultimately could not overturn a 16-0 half-time deficit.
In the first season since Super League scrapped the Million Pound Game London, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Hull KR all head into the final round on 20 points.
The Broncos sit bottom and with a vastly inferior points difference.
