Hull KR (18) 40
Tries: Linnett 2, Hall 3, Minikin, Milnes, Hadley Goals: Abdull 4
Leigh Centurions (12)
Tries: Hellewell, Brierley, Goals: Reynolds 2

Leigh Centurions' losing start to the Super League season stretched to eight games as Ryan Hall's treble helped Hull KR romp to victory.

Shrewd play by Jordan Abdull set up early tries for Kane Linnett and Hall.

And, although Ben Hellewell and Ryan Brierley crossed in reply, a Greg Minikin try and Linnett's second score helped earn Hull a 18-12 interval lead.

Rowan Milnes scored under the posts to extend the advantage and tries by Dean Hadley and two for Hall sealed the win.

Hull KR (16) 40
Tries: Lawler, Crooks, Takairangi, Kenny-Dowall, Parcell, Hall, Linnett Goals: Abdull 5, Milne
Salford (4) 4
Try: Sio

Brad Taikarangi grabbed his first Super League try as Hull KR hammered struggling Salford for their biggest win of the season.

The former NRL centre sped through to collect his own kick for the pick of Rovers' seven scores at Craven Park.

Ken Sio gave Salford a surprise lead, but Rovers looked unstoppable after Chris Atkin was controversially sin-binned in the 20th minute.

Pauli Pauli was sent off for Salford, who have now lost five in a row.

Wigan (0) 8
Tries: Gildart 2
Hull KR (6) 18
Tries: Crooks, Hall, Quinlan Goals: Crooks 3

Hull Kingston Rovers ended their miserable run of form at Wigan with an impressive victory in Super League.

Ben Crooks' converted try produced the only points of a low-scoring first half which saw Rovers 6-0 up.

Ryan Hall crossed to extend the lead after the break, but Oliver Gildart scored twice on his Wigan return to give the hosts hope.

However, missed goals meant Adam Quinlan's 74th-minute try was more than enough to seal it for Tony Smith's side.

Rovers were tipped to be among the strugglers in 2021 but this, their sixth league win of the season, was enough to end a drought at the DW Stadium going back to 2009.

Even without mercurial half-back Jordan Abdull, the pairing of skilful back-rower Brad Takairangi and Mikey Lewis was able to cause Wigan problems.

Hull Kingston Rovers will sign full-back Lachlan Coote from St Helens on a two-year contract when his deal expires at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old rejected an offer to stay with Saints in order to join up with Rovers boss Tony Smith.

Having already won the NRL Grand Final with the North Queensland Cowboys, Coote won back-to-back Super League titles in 2019 and 2020 at Saints.

The 18-year-old, who is the son of former Sheffield Eagles full-back Quentin, has been loaned back to Keighley for the rest of the season.

Head coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio Humberside: "He's an exciting young player and I think he's ready for a full-time environment.

Betfred Super League
Leigh (10) 28
Tries: Sa'u 2, Mullen, Sidlow 2 Goals: Mullen 4
Hull KR (18) 34
Tries: Linnett, Minikin, Kenny-Dowall 2, Lewis, Vete, Hall Goals: Crooks 3

Hull KR were given a big scare by Leigh but did just enough to win a thriller and move up to fifth in Super League.

Rovers sandwiched first-half tries for Kane Linnett, Greg Minikin, Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Mikey Lewis between Junior Sa'u and Craig Mullen scores.

Albert Vete added to their lead but was then sin-binned, as was George Lawler, and Leigh capitalised with tries from Adam Sidlow and Sa'u to go in front.

But Kenny-Dowall pulled Rovers level and Ryan Hall slid in to win it 34-28.

Hall's telling score came after a flowing, off-the-cuff move which exhibited all that is good about Rovers.

Even then, they were close to throwing it away but Liam Hood was in front of the kicker when he touched down with four to go.

Betfred Super League
Hull KR (16) 26
Tries: Vete, Milnes, Ryan, Linnett, Litten Goals: Crooks 3
Wigan Warriors (14) 14
Tries: Bibby, Marshall 2 Goals: Smith

Hull Kingston Rovers enjoyed one of their greatest days in Super League as they beat Wigan Warriors for the second time this season.

They completed a first double over Wigan in 37 years.

Hull KR almost let slip an early 16-0 lead to go in only 16-14 at the break.

But they broke Wigan with successive tries from Kane Linnett and Jez Litten.

Rovers made a storming start, going 16-0 up inside the first 16 minutes with tries from Albert Vete, Rowan Milnes and Ethan Ryan.

Wigan were almost level at the break thanks to tries from wingers Jake Bibby and a Liam Marshall double.

But the second-half introduction of hooker Litten and the return of captain Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who had suffered a first-half foot injury, seemed to spark the Robins in front of their at times raucous 6,230 fans.

Hull FC (16) 23
Tries: Swift, Faraimo 2, Tuimavave Goals: Sneyd 3 Drop-goal: Sneyd
Hull KR (10) 22
Tries: Keinhorst, Milnes, Crooks, Vete Goals: Crooks 3

Hull FC edged a pulsating, relentless derby with cross-city rivals Hull KR thanks to Marc Sneyd's crucial drop-goal late on at the MKM Stadium.

Sneyd popped over the one-pointer to put the Black and Whites seven points up and it proved key after Albert Vete's score with five minutes to go.

The home side led 16-10 at the break thanks to Carlos Tuimavave's effort just before the hooter.

Rovers fought back as the game ebbed and flowed but it was Hull's day.

In what Super League had dubbed 'Rivals Round', these two old foes served up a genuine classic that, while not the highest quality in terms of execution and skill, had drama, excitement and incident in huge quantities.

While St Helens had enjoyed an emphatic 26-2 win at Wigan in Friday's Super League derby, this was a truly intense spectacle.

It will be little consolation for Rovers boss Tony Smith, but his side showed mettle and morale; as did Hull under Brett Hodgson, who has instilled a defensive solidity to the side since his arrival.

Hull KR (12) 26
Tries: Lewis 2, Parcell, Linnett Goals: Abdull 5
Castleford (13) 19
Tries: Evalds 2, Olpherts Goals: Richardson 3 Drop-goal: Richardson

Hull KR overturned a half-time deficit to beat Castleford, one of their main rivals for the two remaining Super League play-off places.

Tony Smith's Robins climbed to fifth ahead of Cas, to set up a final round of games when either they or Leeds can still book their place in the top six.

If Cas beat third-placed Warrington on Thursday, they are assured of top six.

The other place would then be a showdown between Leeds ands Rovers, who meet on Friday at Emerald Headingley.

It would mean a return to Leeds for veteran Robins coach Smith. But ex-Rhinos favourite Ryan Hall, Super League's 15-try second top scorer, departed the action at half-time with a shoulder injury on his 300th appearance.

And Smith has already ruled out both him and fellow injured back Greg Minikin and says the pair are unlikely to play again this season.

Warrington Wolves-bound centre Greg Minikin has played his last game for Hull KR after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury.

The 26-year-old, who has signed a deal with the Wire for 2022, limped out of Saturday's win over Castleford Tigers in the second half.

Minikin has played 25 games and scored 10 tries for the Robins since moving from Castleford for the 2020 season.

He could miss the start of the 2022 season with the injury.
