Experienced half-back Jamie Ellis has returned to Hull Kingston Rovers on a one-year deal. The 30-year-old featured in the Robins' 2017 promotion-winning side while on a season-long loan from Huddersfield.

Ellis, who scored nine tries and equalled the club's consecutive goal-kicking record that year, has spent the last two seasons at Castleford Tigers.

Hull KR further strengthened their half-back options with the arrival of Ryan Brierley from Toronto Wolfpack.

Hull KR (10) 30
Tries: Crooks 4, Minikin, Brierley Goals: Ellis 3
Wakefield Trinity (6) 12
Tries: Westerman, J Wood Goals: Brough, Hampshire

Ben Crooks scored four tries as Hull KR opened their Super League season with a home victory over Wakefield Trinity. Crooks and fello winger Greg Minikin both touched down in the first 12 minutes to give Rovers a 10-0 lead. Joe Westerman's try reduced Wakefield's deficit to four points by half-time.

Crooks completed the first Super League hat-trick of the season and then claimed a high kick to score his fourth, with Ryan Brierley wrapping up the hosts' scoring late on.
Josh Wood grabbed Trinity's only second-half try, which had made the score 24-12 with about 15 minutes remaining, but Brierley found his way through Wakefield's defensive line to make the result safe.

Wakefield's cause was not helped by the loss of scrum-half Danny Brough to injury just after the break, which head coach Chris Chester said afterwards could be a damaged anterior cruciate ligament.

Hull KR (0) 4
Tries: Crooks
Huddersfield (10) 22
Tries: Senior, Gaskell, Clough, Matagi Goals: Sezer 3

Huddersfield moved to the top of Super League as their 100% start continued with a comfortable win at Hull KR.

The visitors put in a dominant display in and out of possession to lead 10-0 at the break thanks to tries from Louis Senior and Lee Gaskell.

Huddersfield, who had prop James Gavet stretchered off in the opening minutes of the second half, extended their lead through Paul Clough and Suaia Matagi.

Ben Crooks scored a consolation for the hosts in the final minutes.

The Giants have now won their opening three games, with all three wins coming away from home.

They made the perfect start in Hull when Senior finished brilliantly inside the opening three minutes and never looked like relinquishing that lead.

Crooks reduced the arrears with 10 minutes to play but their night was summed up when Ryan Brierley's attempted conversion was blown miles off course in blustery conditions.

Simon Woolford's side are now top of the Super League, while Hull KR have slipped to three successive defeats.

Hull KR (8) 8
Try: Crooks Goals: Brierley 2
Castleford Tigers (6) 28
Tries: Shenton, Richardson, Clare, McMeeken Goals: Richardson 6

Castleford Tigers scored 22 unanswered points as they came from behind to win at Hull KR and go top of Super League.

The Robins took an early lead through Ben Crooks' score and, after Michael Shenton replied for the Tigers, Ryan Brierley's goal put the hosts 8-6 up.

Castleford took control after Brierley was sin-binned, with Danny Richardson crossing and James Clare touching down acrobatically in the corner.

Mike McMeeken added a late try as Tigers made it back-to-back victories.

Hull KR, who have now lost four successive games, started brightly and went ahead as Crooks gathered Joe Keyes' cross-kick to notch his seventh try of the campaign.
