Liam Sutcliffe scored two tries to help Hull FC end their seven-game Super League losing run with victory against Huddersfield Giants.

Chris McQueen responded with a try for Huddersfield after Sutcliffe grabbed the game's first touchdown as the sides went into half-time level at 8-8.

Sutcliffe grabbed his second after Chris Satae put the hosts ahead for the second time early in the second half.

While Esan Marsters went over late for the Giants, it was not enough.

Struggling Hull FC bravely held off a second-half Wigan comeback to record a surprise win against the Super League leaders at MKM Stadium.

The Black and Whites made a blistering start, tries from Darnell McIntosh and Jake Clifford giving them a 12-0 lead.

Iain Thornley's double either side of half-time led the fightback from the Warriors, who had won their last six.

But the hosts forced several errors from Wigan in horrendous conditions to prevail after a tense finale.

Hull FC prop Ligi Sao has signed a new contract to keep him with the Super League club until the end of the 2025 season.

The 30-year-old Samoa international has made 70 appearances for the Airlie Birds since joining from NRL side New Zealand Warriors in 2020.
