Hull FC (12) 12
Tries: Shaul, Faraimo Goals: Sneyd 2
Huddersfield Giants (10) 22
Tries: McGillvary, Murphy, Senior, Frawley Goals: Gaskell 3

Huddersfield Giants scored two late tries to take a huge stride towards Super League survival with a thrilling win over play-off chasing Hull FC.

Giants trailed to a Jamie Shaul try in the corner despite a bright start, but England winger Jermaine McGillvary and Aaron Murphy crossed for the visitors.

Bureta Faraimo's score out wide had Hull ahead at the break.

But a gutsy Giants display was rewarded inside the final 15 minutes, Louis Senior and Matt Frawley both crossing.

Huddersfield's win leaves them two points clear of bottom two Hull KR and London Broncos with two games still to play, but having played a game more than their rivals.

St Helens (24) 48
Tries: Thompson 2, Peyroux, Grace, Knowles, Amor, Lomax, Makinson Goals: Coote 8
Huddersfield (0) 6
Tries: Lawrence Goals: Russell

Huddersfield's Super League survival battle will go down to the final weekend after they were thrashed by St Helens and London won at Hull KR.
The Broncos remain bottom but are now level on points with the Giants, Robins and Wakefield, who lost at Warrington.
Huddersfield never got close to a win that would have all but guaranteed their safety as top-of-the-table Saints scored four tries in each half.
The Giants crossed once themselves but it was scant consolation.

Huddersfield (10) 24
Tries: Senior 4, McGillvary Goals: Wardle, Gaskell
Catalans (14) 22
Tries: Tierney 2, Mourgue Goals: Tomkins 5

Louis Senior scored four tries as Huddersfield beat Catalans Dragons 24-22 to secure their Super League status. London, are relegated to the Championship.

Senior went over twice for the hosts, as did Lewis Tierney for Catalans, but six points from Sam Tomkins' boot saw the visitors lead 14-10 at half-time.
Arthur Mourgue extended their advantage before 19-year-old Senior scored twice more and Jermaine McGillvary's 74th-minute try won it for the Giants.

Four teams - Wakefield, Huddersfield, Hull KR and London - were in danger of relegation on the final night of the regular season with only two points separating them all.

Huddersfield Giants have signed Australian half-back Aidan Sezer from Canberra Raiders on a two-year deal.

Sezer was a 2019 National Rugby League grand finalist and a key target for Giants head coach Simon Woolford.

The 28-year-old started off at Gold Coast Titans before joining Raiders, where he also played under Woolford.

While my preferred ESL team is Wigan, I do have a soft spot for the Giants, I must say. I am a traditionalist, thus I highly respect the fact that the Giants represent the birthplace of Rugby League. I just hope the George Hotel can be saved/resurrected so I can go and visit it one day. I would like to look through some of the historical pictures and documents that are said to be held in a museum there. I don't know if it still exists, but that is something to research I guess. The game does not do enough to recognise, acknowledge and appreciate its history. Hopefully, that can change for the better.

I like some of the old teams HKR and Hunslet.

They are in the lower divisions now, as is Halifax (another famous historic club). I can remember the 1987 Challenge Cup final featuring Halifax and St Helens. Those days, when they used to be broadcast on Channel 10, were great. Now, it is all on pay TV, such as FOX League. I really need to do something about getting it installed one of these days!
