A hat-trick from Jodie Broughton helped Catalans ease to victory over Wakefield and end a run of five defeats.

Broughton opened the scoring before efforts from Matt Whitley and Samisoni Langi added to the home side's lead.

Reece Lyne crossed for the visitors but Broughton went over for his second to make it 20-6 at the break.

Broughton, playing for just the second time this season, completed his treble before Kenny Edwards and Tony Gigot (two) tries rounded off the win.

Wigan's Tom Davies has signed a two-year contract with Catalans Dragons.

The winger progressed through Wigan's youth system, making his Super League debut in 2017 where he scored 14 tries in 24 appearances.

The 22-year-old made 309 metres, the second highest ever in a Super League game, in a 2018 win against Catalans Dragons.

Davies suffered an ankle injury in April 2019 which sidelined him for the rest of the season.

Davies is a good lad, but we have too many wingers, and are understocked in other areas.

During the same weekend, the other 12 second-tier clubs will feature in the annual Summer Bash, which will be in Blackpool for a sixth successive year.

Leeds, Catalans, London and Toulouse will meet again in another double-header at Headingley on 7 August.
