Wests Tigers have all but landed their long-awaited backline x-factor with Joey Leilua agreeing to terms on a three-year deal.

Leilua’s immediate release from his Canberra contract is close to being formalised as both clubs come to terms on how the veteran centre’s 2020 salary is split.

Neither the Tigers or Raiders have made an official comment on Leilua’s future, but the 28-year-old is gearing up to join the Tigers early next week when they return to training after a long weekend break.

Canberra have given recruit Curtis Scott the rest of this week off training following the Australia Day arrest that leaves his immediate playing future in doubt.

Scott had been scheduled to return to Raiders HQ with the rest of Ricky Stuart's squad on Wednesday after an extended long weekend break.

But with the 22-year-old facing six charges, including allegedly assaulting a police officer, Canberra have granted Scott leave from training until at least next Monday.

The Canberra Raiders will travel to several bushfire affected regions this week, as part of the club’s bushfire relief program.

The primary objectives of the ‘tour’ are to get a greater understanding of the devastation from the recent fire activity, lift community spirits and directly contribute to local regions that have suffered loss in so many ways.
