Canberra coaching:

(Fox)

For the first time in his four-year tenure, the head of the Raiders boss is not seemingly on the chopping block as we go into the second half of the season.

While Canberra still have plenty of work to do to ensure finals football, they are much better placed than usual at this time of year - which has deflected the heat elsewhere in relation to coaches.

Heat being the operative word now that things have reached boiling point for Neil Henry in Townsville.

I must admit that if I had been told at the beginning of the season that one team would be in eighth position at the end of round 13 and the other 15th, I would have mixed up the Raiders and Cowboys.

Hopefully for Henry's sake his North Queensland team can come home with the kind of wet sail that we have become used to associating with the Green Machine.

While the general consensus has Melbourne, Manly, Souths and the Roosters as a standout top four, the Raiders again shape as a team that can have everyone looking nervously over their shoulders.

Good news for Raiders fans today with vice-captain Brett White agreeing to a new one year deal to remain at the club for 2014. White's leadership on and off the field has been invaluable for the club since he arrived in 2011 from the Melbourne Storm and he is a huge part of the development for the teams young forwards.

In regard to reports last night regarding Sandor Earl the Canberra Raiders have issued the following statement.

“The Canberra Raiders have always co-operated and will continue to do so with ASADA,” Raiders CEO Don Furner said. “ASADA have been the ones carrying out the investigation and it has to run its course.

“The NRL has made it clear that if ASADA brings forward evidence to issue an infraction notice then they will act immediately".

Henry to Return ?

Courier Mail:

NEIL Henry is in line for an unexpected return to Canberra after Raiders chairman John McIntyre revealed on Tuesday night the axed Cowboys coach had been forgiven for his dramatic walkout on the club.

Canberra have formed a sub-committee to assess candidates to replace David Furner and it is understood Henry will be short-listed despite his messy split with the Raiders five years ago.

That sets-up the prospect of a coaching swap, with current Canberra caretaker Andrew Dunemann a leading contender to replace Henry after being interviewed by Cowboys officials.

In his second year in charge in 2008, Henry dropped a bombshell on the club, activating a get-out clause Canberra hierarchy forgot about to rescind his contract for the following year.

Within weeks, Henry had inked a five-year deal with the Cowboys, leaving the Raiders in disarray as club powerbrokers scrambled to find a viable successor.

THE NRL integrity unit will consider suspending tormented Blues Origin star Blake Ferguson after yet another serious off-field incident came to light on Thursday.

And even his minder, boxer Anthony Mundine, is running out of patience with the wayward star.

In another eventful day for the NRL's most troubled footballer, it was revealed Ferguson had been caught speeding and driving a car while his license is suspended.

He lost his ACT license for demerit points recently then last Saturday was again pulled over by Goulburn Highway Patrol officers for travelling at 128kph in a 110kph area.

He was issued with a Field Court Attendance notice to attend Moss Vale Local Court on October 21.

Why is he classed as tormented???

The clown ha s the world at his feet- good footballer, making heaps.

What is his torment???? Please!

He wants out of Canberra so is acting like an arse to get want he wants. Another spoilt arsehole who I hope the NRL punishes.

Not holding my breath though.

Here we go again ... Courier Mail ...

EXCLUSIVE: CANBERRA stars Josh Papalii and Anthony Milford face heavy sanctions after being caught drinking alcohol just two days before the Raiders were belted by 34 points just over a week ago.

The Daily Telegraph has been told the pair were boozing in Auckland on a Thursday night before a round 25 game against the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday, August 31, at Mount Smart Stadium.

Canberra was belted 50-16 in that game, their finals aspirations finally and emphatically buried.

Many of Canberra’s senior players wanted Papalii and Milford stood down for the match and sent home.

England rugby league star Josh Hodgson is to be disciplined after an online video showed him smashing a door at a party in a Dunedin student flat.
Footage posted on YouTube appeared to show Hodgson, who will play in the NRL next season with the Canberra Raiders, demolish the door with a shoulder charge.

One of the students in the flat, who did not wish to be named, said most of the squad had come to the address near the hotel where the English team was staying for a party on Saturday night.

She said "definitely like 15-20 people" arrived around 4.30am and didn't leave until 8.30 on Sunday morning.
England management on Sunday replaced the door with a more robust version and team manager Jon Roberts apologised.

At least he's going to the right Club ... ;)

what would footy be without the playful misbehaviour of the meatheads setting fine examples for fans. We have had enough bad boyz in the Nrl they could almost have formed a premiership winning team if they could have gotten them all on the paddock at the same time.

Did you see Beuttner on tv explaining the difference between the Ennis "tackle" and why he got off?...seems to me they let Ennis go because of the finals and then got caught out with the Raiders tackle.
Maybe the real difference was Ennis shouldered a guy who didn't actually have the ball.

I got fed up with those reporters on Ben Ikins show trying to defend the shoulder charge.

Both incidents should have been charged and suspended. Ennis and Wighton.

Canberra fans should turn there back on the game (not sure what minute) if Wighton is suspended. Make a statement, be bold and show that the inconsistency is our game is losing fans.

Not sure justice has prevailed but at least reason has. If it was good enough to let the worse "tackle" from Ennis go then the Raiders should also have had no case to answer either
