Current champion Scotty McGlaughlin is off to the US to Race indy cars in 2021 and is likely to be replaced by Anton De Pasquale while DJR/Team Penske will revert back to DJR as Roger Penske withdraws from supercars.

I like the 6hr production cars and 12hr GT3 cars, I think the supercars are a dodgy biased category.

looking forward to it but I wish the televising channels would clearly display what make or manufacture the drivers are representing by adding it to their "leader board".
just the car number, lap number and place on the track tells you nothing.
The are so covered in sponsors advertising it almost camouflages the car as they speed by.
trying to spot a tiny logo emblem on the bonnet or grill especially in the rain at eastern creek was an exercise in frustration at best.

Does it matter, there is nothing holden on the commodore and the only thing that is ford on the mustang is the engine block and maybe the castings for the heads, holden don't even sell cars anymore?

yes it does. sport is tribal just like footy or soccer.
You do not follow the driver but the make of vehicle.
I cant account for your method but I like to be able to recognise the make of car be it nissan, merc , ford or GM of which holden was a part running GM motors for many years.
Yes the motors are the actual manufacturers part of the car and they work closely with each other and the governing body of motor sport each year to get them homogolated.
The body shape of the vehicle is made around a frame to resemble the road going version BUT as I said will all that advertising it can be hard to distinguish on the track.
I repeat I prefer to follow the make of vehicle ..unless of course it was Peter Brock then I could have cared what model he drove.
the flags by fans at the track do not say come on whincup or craig but proudly show the colours of the manufacturer even in F1
thats a big help but do you remember each year you have the manufactures logo next to the car number, lap number as the laps increase? for some reason the media have decided to drop the make of manufacturers car from screen ..its becoming almost like they do not want you to know
That's because nothing on the commodore is from holden, actually holden doesn't exist anymore and no longer sponsors any cars whereas ford still supports it's teams.......it would be factually incorrect to have a holden logo next to any car or team.
