Australia’s home and away games against Hong Kong switched
FIBA, the world governing body for the sport of basketball, has today announced the Australian Boomers Asia Cup 2021 qualifier against Hong Kong, currently scheduled to take place in Hong Kong on Sunday 23 February, has been moved to Brisbane’s Nissan Arena and will take place on the same date at 12:30 pm (local).
Basketball supporters will now have the opportunity to see the defending Asia Cup champions, Australia, compete in two FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifying games inside four days. Prior to the switched Hong Kong fixture on Sunday 23 February, the Boomers will host trans-Tasman rivals the New Zealand Tall Blacks in their opening game of their FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifying campaign at Nissan Arena on Thursday 20 February at 6:30 pm (local).
FIBA has made the decision to change the schedule as a precautionary measure in light of the current coronavirus outbreak. Australia will now play Hong Kong away in February 2021 during the third window of qualifying.
